St. Peter, Apostle Parish
Breaks Ground for New Facility
St. Peter's broke ground for their new parish center January 20, 2002. The new 10,000 square foot facility will include worship space, parish hall and class rooms. It will be located on J highway, just off of Highway 32 East. Construction will begin as soon as weather permits and is expected to be completed in about 6 months. This is the next exciting step in realizing the "New Plans, New Challenges" in a New Century

New Century - New Plans
New Challenges
St. Peter's parishioners have every reason to be proud of the facilities that have served them for so many years.
We have realized for some time, however, that our parish facilities are inadequate to meet our needs for worship and fellowship. As a community we have felt the need for a more welcoming facility that better meets our needs and those of the many visitors we have, especially during the summer months.
The space we currently have is to small both in terms of facilities and land. This is why we purchased a future parish site on highway J and have had a building committee working with an architect to design a structure that will greatly enhance our ability to pray and play together.
The new parish facility will provide:
- A new worship space capable of seating more than 200.
- A social hall with a kitchen for parish gatherings.
- Classrooms and meeting rooms.
- Parish office space.
- Adequate storage areas for equipment and supplies.
- Large parking lots.
- Handicap accessible.

Questions & Answers
Q. Why are we building?
A. The present parish and hall are inadequate to serve the needs of our parish community.
Q. What will the work cost?
A. The preliminary estimate is $600,000.
Q. When will the work start?
A. As soon as we have 50% of the cost of the project in cash and the balance in pledges. We recognize this may take some time but NOW is the time to start.
Q. What are you asking of me?
A. A generous gift, payable over three years.
Q. How much am I expected to give?
A. Only you can decide how much to give. We ask you to make a generous gift that reflects both your desire and your financial ability to make this project a success.
Q. How long will I have to pay off my pledge?
A. We ask for a three year pledge with installments payable monthly. This gives the best opportunity to allow you to make a generous gift in the amount needed to achieve our goal while permitting you to budget for it over a period of time.
Q. What if I want to make arrangements concerning payment of my pledge?
A. Contact one of the persons listed on the pledge card. They will be happy to meet with you to work out special arrangement.
Q. What if I want to give something other than cash?
A. Stocks, bonds, land and other assets make excellent gifts and may also provide tax advantages to you. Express your desire to one of those listed on the pledge form or to Father Krudwig.
Q. How is this gift different from my regular Sunday giving?
A. Maintaining your regular Sunday giving is important to pay the normal parish expenses. This special project needs to be funded with special gifts, over and above your regular giving. [Top of Page]
Letter From Our Pastor
As a visitor to our church, either during family visits, or during the summer months you may not of heard that the parish council has recommended and I have approved a plan to provide for the future of St. Peter's Parish well into the 21st century. I can assure you that we have undertaken this action only after much planning, consultation and prayer. The Bishop has also given his encouragement and blessing.
The above information explains what will be done. Please take a moment to review the scope of the project. I think you will be pleased. The new facility will provide seating for 200 during Mass as well as a parish hall with adequate space to host church suppers and events without felling cramped and uncomfortable. If you have ever been downstairs at our present facility, you will know that it is impossible to host a church meal for everyone because of lack of space. The new church will also include added class rooms for religion education as well as a fully equipped kitchen. Everything at the new facility will be located on one level, thus making it handicap accessible, something that our present church is not.
I am absolutely convinced that our parish members and visitors can do whatever they set their minds to. Your gift is important to the success of this effort. For this reason, I have written this letter. Please take the time to look over our plans. You will also find an invitation asking you to contribute to the building of our new church. Please review this invitation and return your reply to me. We hope that you find this project as exciting as we do and that St. Peter's will continue to fulfill your spiritual needs while you visit Stockton.
Yours in Christ,
(Signed) Fr. Bill Krudwig
Reverend William C. Krudwig
Pastor
